Out of 6,200 songs entered for 10 categories in the national UK Songwriting Contest; with one final winner and three runners-up in each; four of my songs made the semi-finals and three were commended. Not bad considering I wrote those songs over 20 years ago. I was out by one point for a place in the final of ‘Adult Contemporary’ and ‘Country’. I now have to figure out how to capitalise on this. Most winners and runner-up get press coverage and music business interests, but so have some semi-finalists.
Maybe I’ll produce a press kit and send it to a shed load of publishers. How do reach people like WIll Young – or his management more likely?
I will ponder - but, I’m pretty pleased with myself.
Don’t have a website yet.
Did years ago. Congrats. Sounds like you are on the way. Thats great.
I had a Commended and “1″ Semi Finals. Did you ever research what the
Semi’s don’t have that the Finalists or Winning tunes do? I guess in your case you could get radio play or newspaper attention. Congradulations
